Process

How it works

Ayeye Atyenhe Art proudly offers both traditional and personalised Aboriginal artworks for sale.

My Story

Personalised Aboriginal Art

If you have chosen to get your own story painted, then the following process will be followed:
  • Your Ideas

Think about the key elements that make up your story. What would you like to feature in your painting? Identify two or three major interests or factors for you or your family (e.g. music, food, a sport, etc.)

  • Write it down

Write down your story in several sentences and send it to us as a message or an email. Keep it as simple as possible but with enough detail to capture the story (see the examples other people have written for their stories as a guide). If you need any help writing your story, or if you would prefer to talk it through, please get in touch with us.

  • Colour Scheme

Tell us the main colour schemes that you would like, that would go best with where you intend to hang the art. Would you like ‘autumn colours’, natural/earthy colours, spring colours, etc? Are there one or two colours that you would particularly like in the painting? Or not like in it?

  • Artwork Size

Tell us the size of the canvas you would like. For some standard sizes, you have the choice to add a DIY frame, which we will post to you along with your completed artwork.

  • Artist Sketch

The information you provide will be passed on to the artist, who will sketch a visual representation of the story you have told, and the sketch will be emailed to you for approval (see the examples ).

  • Story Approval

Once you approve that the story has been depicted correctly, a $1000 deposit will be required to commence the painting. Each artwork will take approximately 40 hours to complete, so a week of full-time work. Demand and order numbers will dictate the time until your artwork is finished, but we can give progress updates when required. When needed, the demand may mean we will sub-contract other Indigenous artists to assist, who will usually be family members, so that we can meet deadlines.

  • Artwork Complete

Once completed, we will email or call to let you know that it is finished and the balance of the cost will be transferred so that the art can be sent to you.

  • Artwork Shipped

With your card payment the piece of art you have chosen will be packed up and posted to you within three days. When it has been dispatched you will be notified by email and given a tracking number to follow its movement until it arrives at your address. The art will be insured in transit.

  • Certificate of authenticity

The commissioned art will be accompanied by a photo of the artist with the finished product and a certificate of authenticity.

Note: For personalised Aboriginal art, the story is owned by the customer and the copyright of the art is owned by the artist.  The art can therefore be reproduced by the customer, but not for resale purposes without the permission of the artist.
